Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Metcalf was born and raised in Indiana and decided when she was a little girl she wanted to be a veterinarian. Following in the footsteps of several family members, she attended Purdue University. There she received her bachelor's degree in animal science and followed with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1999. Pursuing warmer weather, she initially moved to Florida and then eventually out to San Diego in 2003. She was honored to work with specialists in this area and helped to establish a protocol for the treatment of feline hyperthyroidism. Her work was published in scientific journals. Desiring to come back to general practice and having a closer relationship with her patients and their families, she returned to private practice. She eventually even served as the Medical Director. In 2022, she started doing relief work and after working at Windan' Sea and working with Dr. Raichel and her great staff and patients, she came on board full time at the start of 2024.
In her free time, she spends time with her husband, who is an avid surfer, and they like to spend time travelling when they can, hiking, and doing fun things in San Diego. She is lucky to have her mom in San Diego too and she spends time with her often as well. Currently, she and her husband share their home with a small kitty, who likes to run the household.
